Maurice

Pastor Maurice R. Coffee, I, is a native of Painesville, Ohio. He is the son of Lady Charlene Coffee and the late Bishop Roderick A. Coffee, I. He also has two older brothers and a younger sister.  Pastor Coffee was raised in the church, observing his father serve as a Youth Pastor and later the Senior Pastor of Union Community Church. Maurice recognized as a teenager that the Lord had placed a special calling on his life. After graduating from Thomas W. Harvey High School in 1997, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Pastor Coffee is married to the love of his life Pastor Edlexus Coffee, and the father of four amazing children, Kaleb, Joshua, Maurice II and Morgan. He is also the proud grandfather of Amaad Zahir Coffee. On August 30, 2009, Pastor Coffee publicly acknowledged and answered his call to preach. His calling is not only to preach the Gospel but also to be an advocate and mentor for teenage males as well as Preacher’s Kids. Maurice has had the opportunity to impact the lives of young men through innumerable avenues and anticipates other ways in which the Lord will bring them into his life. Over the last 12 years, he has served as a Youth Minister, Pastor of Worship, Assistant Pastor and Interim Pastor. On November 1, 2019, Pastor Coffee accepted the assignment to serve as Senior Pastor of Union Community Church, where he was installed on January 25, 2020. In May of 2023, Pastor Coffee graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary with his Masters of Divinity. He has been accepted into the doctoral program at Ashland and will begin his pursuit of a Doctor of Ministry degree in the fall of 2024. In addition to preaching and teaching God’s word, Pastor Coffee remains involved in his community and is always willing to be on the front lines in the fight for equality and justice.
